Keep the flame burning in your welding tools with the full range of gas bottles from Sydney Tools.
Whether you’re looking for argon, propane, butane, acetylene or oxygen bottles, you’ll find what you need right here from the big brands like Bromic, Hot Devil, SpeedGas, and Bernzomatic.
If you’ve run low, Sydney Tools makes it easy with our SPEEDSWAP system. Simply bring your empty cylinder to one of our 30+ locations across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, and we’ll take it and replace it with a full one.
Need more than just gas? We also carry a huge range of welding supplies, including torches, gas detectors, regulators, safety gear and more—everything you need to get set up or keep going.
Not sure how much gas remains in your bottle? There’s a couple of ways to find out.
Check the markings on the exterior to find the weight of the empty bottle, then put your gas bottle on some scales to see how much it weighs. If the weight is close to the empty weight, it’s almost time to replace the bottle.
Another way to test is using warm water. Fill up a jug or bucket with warm/hot (NOT boiling) water, and pour it slowly down the exterior of the gas bottle, ideally when the gas is in use. Check the temperature of the water as it goes down the bottle, it will be cold where the gas is and warm where the bottle is empty.
Different welding types require different types of gas. If you’re new to welding or just not sure which kind of gas you need, we’ve got you covered.
Some of the most commonly used gases in welding are argon, carbon dioxide (CO2), compressed air, oxygen and acetylene. You’ll also find blends such as argon with carbon dioxide.
MIG welding usually requires carbon dioxide or a blend of argon and CO2.
Argon is the most popular choice of gas for TIG welding.
Acetylene is often combined with oxygen and yields a very hot flame that’s suitable for cutting and welding most types of metals.
