It’s important to ensure your ladder is safely secured at all times to avoid the risk of serious injury.
When you’re climbing onto the roof of a building from a ladder, make sure the ladder extends at least 3 feet above the roofline, and secure the top of the ladder to the building using a rope or roof mount bracket.
Make sure the base of the ladder is on a firm and level piece of ground and use the 4:1 ratio to set your ladder at the correct angle. This means that for every 4 feet of ladder height, you move the base out roughly 1 foot from the wall. So a 20-foot ladder should be roughly 5 feet from the wall at the base, or about 75 degrees.
If you need to repaint an area above a staircase, or even just change a lightbulb you’ve no doubt run into the old problem that the feet of a ladder just don’t fit safely onto a staircase.
The best solution? The Gorilla range of ladder levellers attach to the base of your ladder and give you a rock solid base that sits safely and securely on stairs.
